Selling a passenger vessel
A passenger vessel does not sell like a used car: the buyer pool is small and expert, and they are convinced by completeness and transparency. Anyone who prepares documents, technology and presentation cleanly achieves a fair price faster. This guide shows what matters.
1. Compile complete documentation
Buyers expect a complete picture. Have ready: a valid Union certificate / ship certificate, the full survey history, evidence of investments made in recent years, engine and maintenance records, and the latest dry-dock reports. The more clearly the technical condition is documented, the less uncertainty – and the more stable the price.
2. Set a realistic price
Value comes from survey status, engine condition, modernisations, passenger number and navigation zone – not the year built alone. You will find an overview of typical price ranges in the guide What does a passenger vessel cost?. Too high a starting price deters the already small buyer pool; a clearly justified price sells faster.
3. Create a compelling listing
The listing is your most important sales tool. It should include:
- complete technical data (year built, shipyard, length, beam, draught, passenger number, propulsion)
- survey history and date of the next renewal
- all investments and modernisations carried out
- high-quality photos of interior and exterior, propulsion and decks
- current certificates and approval details
4. Present free of charge on Navium

You create the listing with your technical data and photos, and we take care of the preparation and presentation to prospective buyers. Buyers contact you directly – with no intermediary.
